The President of Finland Tarja Halonen has decided to confer upon Professor Robert W. Grubbström, Linköping University, Sweden, the sign of Commander of the Order of the Lion of Finland. He receives this dignity for his long term services in promoting Finnish-Swedish research co-operation, inter alia, in recent years by leading the international evaluation in connection with establishing the Aalto University in Helsinki.
The distinction will be awarded at a ceremony at the Residence of Finland?s Ambassador to Sweden, in Stockholm on February 17, 2011.
President Halonen has previously awarded professor Grubbström the dignity as Knight First Class of the Order of the White Rose of Finland. He is also Honorary Doctor of Science in Engineering at Lappeenranta University of Technology, and has received honorary doctoral degrees from other foreign universities.
